Summary
The 1994 Buick Century has 8 recalls, the most serious being multiple throttle control issues where the accelerator can stick or fail to return to idle, leaving the driver unable to reduce engine speed and raising the risk of a crash.
Three separate recalls cover the throttle system. The backup return spring may not close the throttle if the primary spring fails, a frozen accelerator cable can cause binding or high pedal effort in cold weather, and a cruise control cable can separate from its fitting while engaged, all of which can leave the driver without normal throttle control. On the suspension side, two recalls address the same front right spindle nut, which was not properly tightened during assembly. Over time the wheel bearing can fail, the spindle can fracture, and the wheel can separate from the vehicle entirely. The power door lock assembly can allow water intrusion that causes a short circuit, which can start a fire. There is also a compliance recall related to the bumpers not meeting low-speed impact standards.
