The 2009 Buick Enclave has 6 recalls, the most serious involving the driver's airbag inflator, which can explode during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
Two other recalls affect occupant restraints. The side impact airbags and front seatbelt pretensioners may fail to deploy in a crash due to increased electrical resistance in the wiring harness, leaving the driver and front passenger without that protection. Separately, a steel cable inside the seatbelt assembly can fatigue and break, preventing the belt from properly restraining an occupant in a crash. There is also a second-row seatbelt concern: when the rear seat back is folded flat and then returned upright, a trim shield can block the belt buckle from rotating back into position, leaving it unable to properly secure a passenger. The liftgate rounds out the list, as it can drop unexpectedly while open and strike anyone standing nearby.
