2013 BUICK ENCORE Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2013 Buick Encore has 4 recalls, the most serious affecting vehicles built in late December 2012 with a heated steering wheel, where a loose fastener can allow the steering wheel to detach from the column and leave the driver with no steering control. The passenger airbag inflator has a weld defect on its end caps that can cause the airbag to fail to fully deploy in a crash, reducing protection for the front passenger. On the seating side, a front seat hook bracket may have an incomplete weld that can give way under crash loads, allowing the seat to shift and raising the risk of injury. There is also a concern with the engine block heater power cord: handling it in extreme cold, below about -25 degrees Celsius, can crack its insulation and create a shock hazard.
