The 2013 Buick LaCrosse has 5 recalls, the most serious affecting eAssist-equipped models, where a faulty generator control module can drain the battery, stall the engine, and in some cases produce smoke or a fire in the trunk.
The rear toe links, suspension components that help keep the rear wheels properly aligned, can fracture on vehicles sold or registered in certain northern and mid-Atlantic states where road salt is common. A broken toe link reduces steering control and raises the risk of a crash. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple recall campaigns address the same underlying problem. There is also a software recall related to engine braking: under certain conditions, engine braking can cut out unexpectedly, which may make the vehicle harder to slow without applying the brakes and increases crash risk.
