The 2014 Buick LaCrosse has 6 recalls, the most serious being a software defect in the airbag control module that can prevent frontal airbags and seatbelt pretensioners from deploying in a crash, leaving the driver and front passenger without key restraint protection.
A related recall covers the same pretensioner and airbag deployment failure, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue across all affected vehicles. On the brake side, certain vehicles may have been fitted with a rear brake rotor on the front axle, which runs hotter under braking and wears through brake pads much faster than normal. There are also two electrical concerns: a compliance issue affects the theft protection and power window systems on some vehicles, and a corroding wiring splice in the driver's door can cause the key-in-ignition chime to stop working, removing the audible warning that could prevent a rollaway.
