The 2014 Cadillac CTS has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the heated front seats, which can overheat and melt the seat material, creating a fire risk that is heightened when the vehicle is remote-started in cold weather.
A separate recall concerns the ignition key: if the key shifts out of the run position while driving, the airbags may not deploy in a crash. GM advises removing all items from the key ring and keeping only the ignition key until the repair is completed. The remaining recalls both involve the windshield wipers, which can stop working if the battery dies and the vehicle is jump-started while the wipers are on and frozen in place by ice or snow, leaving the driver without a clear view of the road.
