2014 CADILLAC CTS Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2014 Cadillac CTS has 5 recalls, the most serious involving the heated front seats, which can overheat and melt the seat material, creating a fire risk that is heightened when the car is remotely started in cold weather. A separate recall addresses the ignition key: if too many items are on the key ring, the weight can cause the key to slip out of the run position while driving, which can prevent the airbags from deploying in a crash. GM advised owners to remove everything from their key ring except the ignition key itself until the repair is completed. Two recalls cover the same windshield wiper issue: if the wipers are left on when the car shuts off, then become frozen or blocked by ice and snow, and the battery dies and needs a jump start, the wipers may not work after the jump, leaving the driver without a functioning wiper system in exactly the conditions where one is most needed.
