The brake defect stems from a retention nut that may not have been tightened to the correct specification during assembly, allowing the pushrod to work loose over time until the pedal has nothing to engage. There is also an electrical concern involving the ignition system: if weight on the key ring pulls the ignition key out of the full run position while driving, the airbag system may not deploy in a crash. Until the repair is completed, owners are advised to remove everything from the key ring except the ignition key itself, including the key fob.
