2010 Cadillac Escalade

The 2010 Cadillac Escalade has 3 recalls, all involving the front passenger airbag inflator, which can explode and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

All three recalls address the same defect in the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator. When the airbag deploys, the inflator can rupture rather than inflate the bag normally, turning the metal housing into fragments that travel toward the driver and passengers. This risk is tied to high heat and humidity exposure over time, which is why coverage is focused on vehicles registered in warm, humid states and territories including Alabama, California, Florida, Hawaii, Louisiana, and Texas, among others. Prior repair attempts for some of these vehicles did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple recall campaigns exist covering overlapping model years on the same underlying problem. Because all three filings describe the same physical failure with the same consequence, this is one defect that has been addressed in waves as the scope of affected vehicles was better understood.
