The 2011 Cadillac Escalade has 4 recalls, the most critical being a defective passenger-side front airbag inflator that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The airbag inflator issue appears across multiple filings but describes the same hazard: the inflator can rupture rather than deploy cleanly, turning the airbag housing into a source of flying metal shards. Note that these recalls apply to vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories, so not every Escalade is affected. There is also a rear axle concern where a cross pin inside the differential can fracture and shift out of position, causing the rear axle to lock up without warning and leaving the driver unable to steer or control the vehicle.
