2012 Cadillac Escalade

The 2012 Cadillac Escalade has 3 recalls, all concerning the front passenger airbag inflator, which can explode and send sharp metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

This is the well-known Takata airbag issue. All three recalls cover the same defect: the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator can rupture when the airbag deploys, scattering metal shards toward the driver and passengers rather than providing protection. The recalls are scoped to vehicles originally sold or registered in high-humidity states and territories, including Alabama, California, Florida, Hawaii, Texas, and others, because moisture exposure over time worsens the risk of inflator rupture. Prior repair attempts under earlier campaigns did not fully resolve the issue for all affected vehicles, which is why multiple filings exist for this single problem.
