The 2019 Chevrolet 4500HD has 4 recalls, with the most serious being a brake pressure sensor that can leak fluid into the brake switch, creating an electrical short that may start a fire while the truck is moving or parked.
Two recalls involve rear axle hardware that was not properly secured at the factory. The U-bolts holding the rear leaf spring assembly to the axle may be loose, allowing the axle to shift out of alignment; if that happens, the driveshaft can separate and the truck loses power to the rear wheels and stalls. Separately from that, the lug nuts on the rear outer wheels may also be loose, and a wheel can detach from the truck entirely while driving. A fourth recall covers the front seatbelts on trucks equipped with a dual-mode belt locking mechanism. The webbing in that assembly can fail to properly restrain an occupant in a crash, raising the risk of injury.
