The 2022 Chevrolet 5500HD has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake pressure sensor assembly that can leak brake fluid into the brake pressure switch, creating an electrical short that may cause a fire while the vehicle is driving or parked.
Two additional recalls concern the braking and steering systems. A separate brake fluid leak can occur at the primary hydraulic brake line assembly, where a pressure-sensor fitting may not be seated tightly enough. Brake fluid escaping from this connection reduces hydraulic pressure in the system, meaning the truck needs more distance to stop than the driver expects. On the steering and suspension side, hex flange lock nuts used in the suspension and steering joints can break and lose their clamping tension, which allows the joint to work loose and makes the steering feel unstable or unpredictable, raising the risk of losing control.
