The 2020 Chevrolet 5500HD has 4 recalls, the most serious being a brake fluid leak into the brake pressure switch that can cause an electrical short and start a fire while the truck is being driven or parked.
Two chassis recalls involve fasteners that were not properly torqued at the factory. The rear outer wheel lug nuts may loosen over time and allow a rear wheel to separate from the truck while moving. Separately, the U-bolts that clamp the rear axle to the leaf springs may also loosen, allowing the axle to shift out of alignment, which can cause the driveshaft to separate and the truck to stall and lose power unexpectedly. There is also a seatbelt concern: trucks equipped with a dual-mode belt locking mechanism may have a front seatbelt that fails to properly restrain an occupant in a crash.
