The 2019 Chevrolet Bolt has 6 recalls, the most serious being two fire risks: the high-voltage battery can catch fire when charged to full or near-full capacity, and after a crash, seatbelt pretensioner exhaust can ignite carpet near the B-pillar.
Note that prior repair attempts for both the battery and the pretensioner fire issues did not fully resolve the problem, and some vehicles previously serviced under earlier campaigns remain affected. On the brake side, rear brake caliper pistons may develop internal gas pockets that reduce braking force, extending stopping distances. There is also a door latch concern: an oversized cable inside the rear doors can contact the window when it opens, eventually damaging the cable to the point where a rear door may swing open while driving or the interior door handle stops working.
