2014 CHEVROLET MALIBU Recalls — Canada & USA

The 2014 Chevrolet Malibu has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate braking concerns: certain vehicles may have rear brake rotors installed at the front, and on 2.5L engine models with auto stop/start, the vacuum brake boost can fail completely, both of which extend stopping distances. On vehicles with the mismatched rotors, a brake pad can detach from the caliper, causing a sudden drop in braking force. The vacuum boost failure on affected 2.5L models means the pedal requires significantly more effort to slow or stop the vehicle. There are also two smaller concerns involving visibility. The sunroof slide or tilt switch sits close enough to the surface that it can be bumped accidentally, causing the roof panel to close on its own and potentially catch a hand or arm. On certain vehicles built in the first half of the 2013-2014 model year, the climate control can go unresponsive at startup, which prevents the windshield defroster from clearing frost or fog.
