The 2023 Chevrolet Malibu has 3 recalls, the most serious involving a front impact bar that may not be properly welded to the frame, which can prevent crash sensors from firing correctly and raise the risk of injury in a collision.
The two remaining recalls both affect the rearview camera. In one case, moisture can get inside the camera housing and cause the image to appear distorted or go blank entirely while backing up. In the other, a software or display issue can produce a similarly distorted or blank image on the backup screen. Either way, the practical result is the same: the driver loses their rear view while reversing, which raises the risk of a backover collision. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the camera display issue, which is why two separate campaigns address it.
