The 2019 Chevrolet Silverado 6500 has 4 recalls, the most serious being two separate fire risks: an engine block heater that can short-circuit and ignite, and a brake pressure sensor that can leak fluid into the brake pressure switch and overheat the circuit.
On the brake side, there is a second concern: a prior repair for a brake system issue used a wiring harness assembled without protective tape, leaving the wires exposed to damage that can cause power brake assist to fail, requiring greater pedal force to slow the vehicle. Separately from the fire and brake issues, the engine control module was calibrated to allow the truck to exceed 75 mph, which is the maximum rated speed for the tires fitted to these vehicles, and driving above that threshold raises the risk of a tire failure and loss of control.
