The 2011 Chevrolet Suburban has 4 recalls, the most serious being a defective front passenger airbag inflator that can explode and send metal fragments into the cabin, posing a risk of serious injury or death.
The airbag inflator issue is the subject of multiple recalls tied to vehicles registered in high-humidity states and territories, where moisture exposure worsens the risk. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue across all affected vehicles, which is why separate campaigns exist. There is also a recall covering the ignition lock actuator, which can bind and cause the key to get stuck in the "Start" position. If the ignition then snaps back to "Accessory," the engine, power steering, and power brakes all cut out simultaneously, leaving the driver with significantly reduced control of the vehicle.
