The 2019 Chevrolet Suburban has 3 recalls, the most serious involving brake and drivetrain issues on four-wheel-drive models that can cause unexpected wheel lockup or the vehicle to pull sharply to one side while driving.
The brake concern affects vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08-ratio rear axle, and four-wheel drive: a faulty sensor can trigger the driveline-protection system unintentionally, applying braking force to one wheel and yanking the vehicle sideways without warning. A separate transfer case issue on four-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive models can cause front or rear wheels to lock up, raising the risk of losing control. There is also a safety equipment concern: the second- or third-row seatbelt retractors may not lock when the belt is fully extended, which means a child seat anchored with that belt may not be held securely in a crash.
