The 2009 Dodge Grand Caravan has 7 recalls, with multiple fire risks standing out: corroded unused electrical connectors in two separate circuits can short and overheat, and a sliding door wire harness can wear through and ignite the door latch.
On the airbag side, there are three concerns. The airbag control unit can corrode and fail to deploy the front airbags in a crash. A loose or missing steering wheel emblem, along with its mounting hardware, can become projectiles when the driver airbag fires. There is also a risk that a heavy keychain can pull the ignition key toward the off or accessory position while driving, cutting power to the engine and disabling the airbags and power steering. One recall only affects wheelchair-accessible vehicles modified by The Liberty Motor Company, where the rear axle assembly can fail and raise the risk of a crash.
