The 2002 Dodge Ram has 4 recalls, the most serious being a brake failure risk on 4x4 models where a weld on the rear axle can crack and let the brake caliper rotate until the brake line tears loose, draining rear brake fluid and reducing stopping power.

The remaining recalls cover a visibility concern and an electrical fault. On the exterior mirrors, the detent mechanism that holds the mirror housing in position can wear out and stop holding the mirror in place, leaving it free to shift and reducing what the driver can see behind the vehicle. On the electrical side, a connector at the base of the steering column contains an undersized terminal in the heater and blower motor circuit. When the blower runs at high speed, the current passing through that undersized terminal generates heat, which causes the metal contacts to soften and lose their grip on each other. The result is that the blower motor stops working entirely, leaving the driver without heat, air conditioning, or defrost.
