Summary
The Fisker Ocean has 8 recalls covering 2023-2024 model years, with the most serious being a loss of drive power that can occur suddenly on all 2023-2024 vehicles when a communication fault with the electric water pump causes the battery management system to cut power to the wheels. This same consequence appears from a separate software fault on 2023 models, where the motor and vehicle control unit software can unexpectedly trigger a protective shutdown and drop drive power without warning. On 2023-2024 vehicles, the transmission can also fail to engage the selected gear and allow the vehicle to roll away while in Drive or Reverse.
On the braking side, 2023-2024 vehicles have a brake software fault that can reduce regenerative braking unexpectedly, lengthening stopping distances. The exterior door handles on all 2023-2024 vehicles can stick and refuse to open, which could trap occupants inside in an emergency. Rounding out the 2023-specific issues, the instrument panel displays brake, park, and anti-lock brake warning lights at the wrong size and in some cases in amber rather than red, which can prevent the driver from recognizing a critical warning at a glance.
