The 2023 Fisker Ocean has 8 recalls, the most serious being multiple issues that can cut drive power without warning, leaving the vehicle unable to accelerate and raising the risk of a crash. The loss-of-power issues stem from a few separate causes: a failing electric water pump can force the car into a reduced-power limp mode, and a software fault in the motor and vehicle control units can trigger an unexpected safe-mode shutdown. There is also a recall where the transmission may not shift into the selected gear, allowing the vehicle to roll away while in Drive or Reverse. On the braking side, the regenerative braking system can reduce its stopping force without warning, lengthening the distance needed to stop. Two recalls cover the exterior door handles, which can stick and refuse to open, trapping occupants inside during an emergency. The instrument panel also displays brake, park, and ABS warning lights in the wrong size and in amber rather than the required red, which can prevent a driver from recognizing a critical warning.
