The 2026 Ford Escape has 3 recalls, the most serious being a park mechanism that may fail to hold the vehicle in place after shifting into park, allowing it to roll away and raising the risk of a crash.
Plug-in hybrid models carry an additional concern: a defect in one or more high-voltage battery cells can cause an internal short circuit, which may cut drive power without warning or, in a more serious scenario, lead to a fire. Owners of plug-in hybrid trims should be aware this recall also covers that configuration specifically. On the occupant safety side, the mounting hardware securing the rear left and right seatbelt retractors may not be fastened tightly enough. If a retractor shifts or pulls free in a crash, the belt may not hold the occupant back the way it is designed to, increasing the chance of injury.
