The 2024 Ford Escape has 13 recalls, the most serious involving fire risk from fuel injector leaks, a high-voltage battery defect on plug-in hybrid models that can cause an internal short and either a fire or sudden loss of drive power, and a faulty instrument panel that can prevent the passenger airbag from deploying and send fragments toward occupants.
On the engine side, certain vehicles may develop an oil leak that can also cut drive power. Plug-in hybrid models with an engine block heater face an additional fire risk if the heater overheats while parked and plugged in. Two-wheel drive models with adaptive cruise control may have a misaligned radar module that causes the system to brake unexpectedly for overhead objects that are not in the vehicle's path. The rearview camera can freeze or go blank while reversing on some vehicles, and liftgate hinge covers on certain trims can detach and become a road hazard. One recall covers a missing airbag warning label on the dashboard.
