On the structural side, this recall only affects the Escort Montreal 350 Anniversary Edition: the rear deck spoiler may have been installed without a gasket beneath the pedestal, letting it rock against the deck lid, crack the sheet metal, and eventually detach from the vehicle at speed. The brake light switch can also malfunction intermittently, leaving the brake lights dark when the pedal is pressed and giving following drivers no warning that the vehicle is slowing down.
