The 2023 Ford Explorer has 7 recalls, the most serious being a transmission bolt that can leave the vehicle free to roll even when the gear selector reads "Park," and a front suspension fastener that can cause steering pull or make the wheel harder to turn. On the engine side, this recall only affects 2.3L turbocharged models: a damaged turbocharger oil supply line can leak oil onto hot engine or exhaust components, raising the risk of an engine compartment fire. There is also a seating concern shared with other Ford and Lincoln models: the switch for the second-row outer easy-entry seats can stick or bind, causing the seat to unlatch, fold, or slide unexpectedly while driving, which can reduce how well the seat holds an occupant in a crash. Three recalls involve the rearview camera. A wiring harness fault can cause the camera to show a solid blue image or go blank entirely when the vehicle is shifted into reverse, leaving the driver without a view of what is behind the vehicle.
