The 2024 Ford Explorer has 4 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk on hybrid models where the 12-volt battery cable can chafe against the starter-generator and short circuit, and a trailer hitch issue where loose bolts can cause loss of vehicle control or allow a trailer to detach while towing. On the interior side, the second-row outer seats have an easy-entry switch that can bind or stick, causing a seat to unlatch, fold, or slide while the vehicle is moving and leaving an occupant without proper support in a crash. There is also a software issue affecting the rearview camera, which can display a blank image when reversing and reduce the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle.
