The 2024 Ford F-150 Lightning has 4 recalls, with the most serious being a high-voltage battery defect that can cause an internal short circuit and create a fire risk while the vehicle is parked or in use.
Two recalls address the front suspension: on certain vehicles, the upper control arm ball joint nut may not have been tightened properly during assembly, allowing the control arm to pull free from the steering knuckle. When that connection breaks, the driver loses steering on that corner of the truck, which can cause a sudden and unpredictable loss of vehicle control. Because these filings cover overlapping model years with the same defect and the same consequence, earlier repair attempts may not have fully addressed the issue for all affected trucks. There is also a drivetrain concern: the integrated park module can fail to hold the vehicle in park after the driver shifts out of drive, leaving the truck free to roll away on any grade or incline.
