What can fail
On certain trucks with 6.4L diesel engines, the diesel particulate filter can get so hot that flames may shoot out the tailpipe. This risk of fire or injury exists if combustible material is nearby or if someone is close to the tailpipe.
What the fix does
Dealers will update the engine computer software to control the filter temperature and prevent excessive heat.
