2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty

The 2008 Ford F-350 Super Duty has 3 recalls, the most serious being a tire tread separation risk and a fuel tank vulnerability that can allow fuel to spill and ignite in a crash.

The Continental ContiTrac tires installed at the factory can develop uneven wear and vibration, and under conditions of overloading or low inflation in high heat, the belt edges can separate and the tread can detach at highway speed. On 156-inch wheelbase 4x4 models equipped with a two-piece driveshaft, the fuel tank can sustain damage in a crash in a way that allows fuel to leak out, and any nearby ignition source can cause that fuel to catch fire. On the interior side, certain vehicles with an adjustable lumbar support and either a 40/20/40 split bench or captain's chair bucket seats may have welds at the seat back pivot bracket that can fracture while driving, causing the seat back to suddenly recline and leaving the driver or passenger without proper support during a crash or hard stop.
