The 2011 Ford F-350 Super Duty has 3 recalls, all involving fire risk: the body control module can develop an internal short that overheats and ignites, and two separate equipment recalls cover oil leaking from a power take-off pressure switch onto exhaust insulation.
The body control module issue affects the vehicle's core electrical system and can result in a fire without warning. The two equipment recalls apply only to trucks that have been modified by Jerr-Dan or Vanair and fitted with certain Muncie power take-off assemblies driving hydraulic or air compressor systems. In both cases, oil leaking from the pressure switch soaks into a thermal blanket wrapped around the exhaust, and the heat from that exhaust can ignite the saturated material.
