The 2008 Ford F-350 has 7 recalls, the most serious being three fire-related risks on diesel-equipped trucks: an exposed battery wire that can short and ignite, an overheating diesel particulate filter that can produce visible flame from the tailpipe, and fuel spillage near an ignition source on certain four-wheel-drive models with a two-piece driveshaft.
On the steering side, service replacement steering gears installed after a certain date may not mount securely to the frame rail, and the retention bolts can fatigue over time, potentially affecting steering control. Two recalls involve occupant safety: the driver airbag may not deploy properly in a crash on some vehicles, and on trucks with 40/20/40 split or captain's chair driver seats with lumbar supports, a weld at the seat back pivot bracket can crack or break in a crash. There is also a trailer hitch concern affecting a small number of trucks fitted with Knapheide Pro Series beds, where an insufficient weld can allow the hitch channel to bend or pull away from the vehicle under load.
