Three separate campaigns address this same PTO oil leak and fire hazard, each filed by a different upfitter that modified these trucks. The underlying problem is identical in each case: the PTO pressure switch can weep oil onto a heat-shielding blanket wrapped around the exhaust, and the combination of soaked insulation and exhaust heat raises the risk of a fire starting beneath the vehicle. A separate electrical recall covers a narrow build window of trucks where a body control module may have been inspected with flawed diagnostic software, leaving it vulnerable to an internal short that can overheat and potentially cause a fire as well.
The remaining recall applies only to trucks built with ambulance or fire engine preparation packages. A powertrain control module calibration issue on these vehicles can cause the engine to shut down unexpectedly, requiring a cool-down period before it will restart, which can delay emergency response when time is critical.
