The 2020 Ford F-450 SD has 10 recalls, the most serious involving the high-pressure diesel fuel pump, which can fail and cut drive power without warning, and a steering column upper shaft that can detach and cause complete loss of steering control.
A washer inside the transmission can disintegrate and send metallic debris into the Park mechanism, preventing the vehicle from holding Park and creating a rollaway risk. The windshield on some vehicles was not properly bonded and can separate in a crash. Note that prior repair attempts on the fuel pump defect did not fully resolve the issue for some trucks, so both the original defect and the incomplete repair are covered separately.
Three recalls affect rear visibility: the 360-degree camera lens coating can degrade and produce a foggy image, a poor electrical connection can cause the rearview camera to show a blank or distorted image, and a software fault can cause the 360-degree system to fail in certain lighting conditions. Wiper arms can also break and leave the windshield uncleared in wet conditions. The final recall covers the owner's manual, which omits instructions for adjusting or removing certain head restraints, raising the risk of improper positioning in a crash.
