2017 Ford F-450

The 2017 Ford F-450 has 4 recalls, the most serious being a fire risk tied to the optional engine block heater, where corrosion inside the cable's splice connector can cause wiring to overheat and ignite when the heater is plugged in.

A separate recall affects vehicles that were originally built with black or body-colored exterior door handles and later fitted with a chrome door handle cover accessory kit purchased through a Ford dealer. The chrome cover can interfere with the latch mechanism, allowing a door to swing open in a side-impact collision and exposing occupants to a greater risk of injury. The remaining two recalls apply only to F-450 units that were converted into ambulances. On certain ambulances equipped with ASA Electronics Voyager backup monitors, the camera image can display in a way that causes the driver to steer in the wrong direction when reversing, raising the risk of striking an object or person behind the vehicle. On a separate group of ambulance conversions fitted with Whelen brake lights, wiring conditions can cause those lights to illuminate even when the brake pedal has not been pressed, potentially confusing trailing drivers about whether the vehicle is slowing down.
