13 recalls across 13 model years
The Ford F-750 SD has 13 recalls spanning 2008 through 2025, with the most serious recent issue affecting 2025 models where front axle tie rod ball studs can break and cause a complete loss of steering control.
On 2024-2025 models, a casting defect in the transmission can prevent the park pawl from fully engaging, allowing the vehicle to roll away when parked. The 2023-2024 model years have a separate parking brake issue where the lever can release on its own without pressing the release button, also creating a rollaway risk.
The 2021 model year, on vehicles with the 7.3L gasoline engine, was built without underbody heat shields, which can allow the cabin floor and seat attachment points to reach temperatures that can burn skin on contact.
The 2018 model year carries three distinct issues. Brake circuit hoses between the master cylinder and hydraulic control unit can corrode at their fittings and leak brake fluid, reducing stopping power. On 6-speed automatic transmission models, the gear shift cable clip can come loose and cause the shift lever to show "Park" when the transmission is actually in a different gear. A separate recall covers parking brake cables on hydraulic-brake-equipped 2018 vehicles that were not adjusted correctly, which can allow unexpected movement when the transmission is not in Park.
Going back to 2015-2016 models, there are two steering and brake concerns. On 2015 models with Spicer D-Series and E-Series steer axles, a loose tie rod nut can allow the tie rod to disconnect from the steering knuckle, causing loss of steering at lower speeds. On 2016 models with rear air suspension, rear brake hoses can chafe against the axle housing and develop an air leak, reducing rear braking ability. The 2015-2016 model years also share a parking brake cable connector clip that can fail and allow the vehicle to roll.
The 2015 model year has an additional fuel system issue where the engine can stall unexpectedly. On 2011-2015 models equipped with a 70% fixed bench passenger seat, the passenger seat belt floor anchors were installed in the wrong location, which can reduce their effectiveness in a crash. The 2008-2009 model years, on vehicles with the Caterpillar C7 engine, have fuel lines near cylinders five and six that can crack at the fuel rail connection and leak fuel, creating a fire risk.
