The 2008 Ford F-750 has 3 recalls, all involving the diesel fuel system, with the most serious risk being an engine fire or loss of throttle control that could lead to a crash.
All three recalls center on fuel system failures in trucks equipped with Caterpillar C7 or C9 diesel engines. A fuel pump outlet check plug can crack and spray fuel near hot engine components, and on C7-equipped trucks specifically, the number 5 and 6 fuel lines can crack where they attach to the common fuel rail, releasing high-pressure fuel that can ignite if it contacts an ignition source. On trucks with either the C7 or C9 engine, a failing fuel pump can also contaminate the engine oil with fuel, which then causes the turbocharger to fail, leaving the driver unable to control throttle response and producing heavy smoke from the exhaust.
