The 2015 Ford Flex draws its heaviest complaint volume from two systems: the backup camera and steering. Owners frequently report the rearview camera malfunctioning when shifting into reverse, the most common descriptions are a black screen, an inverted image, or the display cutting out intermittently. Steering complaints are nearly as common, with owners describing loss of power assist, stiffness, or unexpected changes in steering feel while driving. The fuel and propulsion system rounds out the top three, where owners report stalling, hesitation, or loss of power. The camera issues appear to be the most consistent single theme across this complaint set, with multiple owners noting the display goes blank or flips upside down specifically at the moment reverse is engaged.

The 2015 Ford Flex has 4 recalls, the most serious being a rear suspension toe link that can fracture and cause a sudden, unpredictable change in handling, raising the risk of a crash. Note that this recall only affects vehicles equipped with the SHO Performance Pack.
On the fuel side, vehicles with the 3.5L EcoBoost engine have a fuel pump module component that can overheat and cut power to the fuel pump, causing the engine to stall or fail to start. There is also a parking brake concern on vehicles built during a narrow window in May 2015: the brake may not fully engage, and if the transmission is left out of Park on a slope, the vehicle can roll away. The rearview camera can display a distorted, flickering, or blank image when reversing, reducing the driver's view of what is behind the vehicle.
