The 2020 Ford Police Interceptor Utility has 4 recalls, the most serious affecting vehicles with the 3.3L gas or hybrid engine, where worn connecting rod bearings can cause the engine to fail suddenly, cutting power to the wheels or starting a fire.
On the restraint side, second-row outboard seatbelt anchor bolts may be loose or absent, meaning the belt can pull free from its mounting point in a crash and leave a rear passenger without meaningful protection. Two recalls affect visibility. On vehicles with the 12.1-inch integrated computer screen, the display may not wake up when the transmission shifts into reverse, leaving the driver with no rearview camera image while backing up. In a separate issue, the windshield washer fluid reservoir on a small number of vehicles was filled with fluid contaminated with brake fluid, which can degrade the washer system and leave the windshield streaked or impossible to clear, blocking the driver's forward view.
