1987 Ford Ranger

The 1987 Ford Ranger has two recalls, the more serious being a seatbelt buckle that may not be properly anchored to the floor, leaving the belt unable to hold an occupant in a crash.

In some vehicles, the anchor bolt was never inserted through the floor mounting point, meaning the buckle is held only by a staple through the webbing and plastic boot. That connection would not hold under crash forces. On the emissions side, this recall only affects Ranger trucks with the 2.3-litre fuel-injected engine: a loose terminal in the oxygen sensor can cause the vehicle to fall outside required exhaust emissions limits.
