The 2007 Ford Ranger has 4 recalls, all involving the Takata airbag inflators, where both the driver and passenger frontal airbags can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.

Both the driver and passenger side frontal airbag inflators are affected. Over time, exposure to heat and humidity causes the propellant inside the inflator to degrade, and in a crash the inflator can explode rather than deploy normally, scattering sharp metal fragments toward the driver and any front passenger. These recalls are particularly relevant for vehicles that have spent time in high-humidity regions such as coastal or southern states.
