The 2023 GMC Canyon has 4 recalls, the most serious being a software fault in the front camera module that can cause the automatic emergency braking system to trigger unexpectedly, bringing the vehicle to a sudden stop when no obstacle is present.
On the structural side, front wheel hub bolts on certain vehicles may have been over-tightened during assembly, which can cause them to loosen or break while driving and lead to loss of vehicle control. There is also a seatbelt concern: the buckle attachment bolt on either front seat may not have been properly tightened, which means the belt may not hold an occupant in a crash.
