The 2003 GMC Envoy has 5 recalls, the most serious involving a scored left-front brake pipe that can fracture and cause an immediate drop in braking power, raising the risk of a crash.
Two recalls address turn signal malfunctions: in one, the turn signals or hazard lights illuminate but stay solid instead of flashing, and in another, activating a turn signal causes all four corners to flash like hazard lights rather than indicating only one side. Both conditions can make it difficult for other drivers to read your intentions on the road. The windshield wiper system can also fail due to water getting into the wiper module, causing the wipers to stop working, refuse to turn off, or run the washer pump continuously, which can leave the driver with reduced visibility in wet conditions. The final recall is a compliance issue with the transmission: a mechanical override can allow the ignition key to be removed while the shifter is not in Park, which can leave the vehicle able to roll.
