1994 GMC Suburban

The 1994 GMC Suburban has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake light switch that can wear out and fail, leaving drivers behind you with no warning that you are slowing down.

The brake light issue stems from reversed wiring polarity at the brake switch, which accelerates wear on the internal contacts until the switch stops working and the brake lights go dark. On the visibility side, the windshield wipers can fail without warning due to cracked solder joints on the wiper controller circuit board, which becomes a serious hazard in rain or snow when you need them most. There is also a driveability concern specific to vehicles equipped with the 6.5-liter electronically fuel-injected diesel engine: the engine can exhibit poor throttle response, stall at startup or while driving, misfire, or crank for an extended period before catching, particularly when the engine is hot.
