The 2017 GMC Yukon has 3 recalls, the most serious being a brake control defect that can cause the vehicle to pull sharply to one side without warning, raising the risk of a crash.
The braking system is also the subject of a second concern: the vacuum pump that provides power assist to the brakes can weaken over time, meaning the pedal requires more force to push and the truck takes longer to stop than the driver expects. This applies to vehicles equipped with a 5.3-liter engine, a 3.08 rear axle ratio, and four-wheel drive. On the safety equipment side, the front airbags and seatbelt pretensioners may fail to deploy in a crash that would normally trigger them, leaving the driver and front passenger without the restraint system's full protection at the moment they need it most.
