2019 Honda Accord

The 2019 Honda Accord has 6 recalls, the most serious involving a passenger seat sensor that can misread occupant presence and cause the front passenger airbag to deploy unexpectedly during a crash, raising the risk of injury.

Three recalls address the same underlying fuel pump failure. The low-pressure fuel pump inside the tank can stop working while driving, cutting fuel delivery to the engine and causing a stall with little or no warning. A stalled engine in moving traffic raises the risk of a collision, and prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple campaigns exist for this defect. On the restraint side, a manufacturing issue with the front seatbelt buckle can cause the release button to bind inside the buckle channel, preventing the belt from latching at all. A belt that does not latch cannot hold an occupant in a crash, which makes this one of the more consequential items on the list even without a fire or stall risk. Rounding out the recalls, a software error in the body control module can disrupt communication between it and other vehicle systems, knocking out features like the windshield wipers, rear defroster, rearview camera, or exterior lights. Losing any of those functions in rain, fog, or low-light conditions reduces the driver's ability to see or be seen.
