The suspension issue affects Fireblade SP models specifically, where a rear shock connecting plate may not have been seated correctly during assembly. If the plate breaks while riding, the rear of the motorcycle drops unexpectedly, and the rider can lose stability and control mid-corner or at speed. The exhaust overheating concern affects certain models across the lineup: if the exhaust pipe runs too hot under particular riding conditions, it can melt the oil cooler pipe running nearby, releasing oil onto the hot exhaust and raising the risk of fire. Oil reaching the rear tire can also cause the tire to lose grip, reducing the rider's ability to steer or brake effectively. On the drivetrain side, the gear shift lever pivot bolt can work loose during a forceful upshift and eventually snap, causing the lever to detach entirely. With no shift lever, the rider cannot change gears, which can create a dangerous situation when accelerating into traffic or slowing for a corner.
