The 2010 Honda Civic GX has 3 recalls, all involving the passenger-side frontal airbag inflator, with the most serious risk being an inflator that can rupture and send metal fragments into the cabin, causing serious injury or death.
A separate filing covers the same passenger airbag inflator and carries the same consequence: explosive rupture that drives sharp metal fragments toward the driver or other occupants. Prior repair attempts did not fully resolve the issue, which is why multiple campaigns exist for the same component. There is also a third concern with the same inflator: if it was incorrectly installed, the passenger frontal airbag may fail to deploy in a crash at all, removing a key layer of protection at the moment it is needed most.
