Looking at this recall set, Recalls 1 and 5 describe the same fuel filler neck defect, Recalls 2 and 6 describe the same fuel pump defect, and Recalls 3 and 4 describe the same driver airbag inflator defect. Recall 7 is a passenger airbag inflator defect. That gives us four distinct issues. The 2001 Honda Civic has 7 recalls, the most serious being airbag inflator defects on both the driver and passenger sides that can rupture during deployment and send metal fragments into the cabin, raising the risk of serious injury. Two recalls involve the fuel system. The filler neck tube has hose clamps with insufficient clamping force, so in a collision the tube can pull away from the fuel tank and leak fuel, creating a fire risk if an ignition source is nearby. On sedan trims, the fuel pump electrical connector may have retained water from factory testing, which can corrode the pump over time and cause the engine to stall without warning.
